Privacy Policy — HIFILAT Console
HIFILAT Console for macOS
Version 1.0 · In effect since: September 2026 · Last updated: October 2026
This is an informational translation. The Spanish version governs (see §17).
Summary
HIFILAT Console does not collect data.
The app runs entirely on your Mac. There are no accounts, no servers, no telemetry, no analytics and no advertising.
Console needs access to your apps' audio in order to mix it and send it to the device you choose. That audio is processed on the fly, in your Mac's memory, and discarded: it is never recorded, never written to disk and never leaves your computer.
The only thing that can leave your Mac is a problem report, and only if you generate it, review it and decide to send it.
1. Data controller
- Legal name: HIFILAT SpA
- RUT: 78.449.278-8
- Address: Antonio Bellet 193, Oficina 1210, Providencia, Santiago, Chile
- Contact email: contacto@hifilat.com
- Website: https://hifilat.com
- Jurisdiction: Republic of Chile
2. What Console does with your audio
Console uses Apple's Core Audio Process Taps (available from macOS 14.4) to take the audio of the applications you choose, adjust volume and equalization, and deliver it to the output device or devices you select.
That processing happens entirely inside your Mac, in real time:
- The audio exists only in memory while it is processed, and is discarded immediately.
- It is not recorded, not written to disk and not transmitted to HIFILAT or to any third party.
- HIFILAT has no way to access that audio: there is no server, account or channel through which it could reach us.
- Only the audio of the apps you route is taken. The rest are untouched.
3. Permissions Console asks for
| macOS permission | What it is for | What it does NOT do |
|---|---|---|
| System Audio Recording (required) | Take the audio of the apps you route, to adjust their volume and send it to the device you choose. Without it the app receives silence and cannot work. | It does not record or save the audio, nor send it anywhere. |
| Microphone (optional) | Show the level meter for your inputs. | It does not record or save anything. If you don't grant it, Console still works; you just won't see that meter. |
You can revoke both permissions at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
About the audio permission: the name macOS gives it ("System Audio Recording") is Apple's, not ours, and describes the capability the system grants — not what Console does with it. Console does not record.
4. What is stored on your Mac
Console stores its preferences in standard macOS storage, on your computer:
- Volume and routing for each application.
- Equalizer settings and saved or imported correction curves.
- Chosen language.
- Trial start date and purchase status.
Activity log: it lives in memory only, capped at 400 lines, and is lost when you close the app. It is not written to disk on its own.
With one exception worth knowing: if you generate a problem report, that log is copied into the report (see §6). That is the only way it can leave your Mac, and only if you choose to send it.
None of this is transmitted to HIFILAT. You can delete it by uninstalling the app and removing its preferences.
5. Internet connections
This section is the complete and authoritative list of Console's connections. If any is added in the future, we will update this policy and its version before shipping it.
| When | Where | What leaves |
|---|---|---|
| When Console opens, only in versions that sell Console Pro | Apple (StoreKit) | Console starts listening for your transactions, so a purchase made on another Mac, a refund or Family Sharing are reflected automatically. This happens even if you never buy anything. Nothing of ours leaves and we do not identify you. |
| When you open the Console Pro window, once available | Apple (StoreKit) | A query for the product and its price. Nothing of yours. |
| When you buy Console Pro | Apple (StoreKit) | The purchase is handled entirely by Apple. HIFILAT never sees or processes your payment data. |
| When you click the logo, the links to the policy and the terms, or the "Take a look" link on the SmartAudio Manager card | hifilat.com, in your browser | Nothing of ours. It is a normal web visit (the site sees your IP, like any site). |
Version 1.0 on the Mac App Store does not sell Console Pro, so it does not connect to Apple: it only makes the hifilat.com visits that you start.
Console has no accounts, own servers, telemetry, analytics, advertising, trackers, automatic licence checks or automatic downloads of any kind.
6. Problem report (only if you ask for it)
Console can generate a report to help us resolve a failure. It is never generated or sent on its own.
- You generate it, and Console shows it to you in full before saving.
- You choose where it is saved and whether to send it, and by which means.
- It contains:
- What you write in the description.
- The complete session log (up to 400 lines). This is the bulkiest block: throughout the session it repeats the names of your applications and devices, and any errors that occurred.
- The Console and macOS versions, your Mac model, the language and the date.
- Whether the audio permission is granted, whether Console runs sandboxed (the App Store build) and whether it is a tester copy.
- Your licence status: features unlocked, in trial with the days remaining, or locked.
- For each device: its name, nominal and physical sample rate, reported latency, whether it is muted and its volume.
- For each application: its name, the volume to each destination, whether it is muted, whether it runs in clean pass-through, the ten equalizer gains, whether loudness is on, and the name, latency and tail of its plugins.
- Internal engine counters.
- It contains no audio, nor any of what you were listening to.
⚠️ Keep this in mind: device and application names may include personal data — a Mac is often called "Ana's MacBook" and headphones "Ana's AirPods". Review the report before sending it and edit anything you'd rather not share.
If you choose to send it to us, HIFILAT becomes the controller of that content: we use it solely to diagnose your problem, we do not share it with third parties, and we delete it once the case is closed. The legal basis is your consent, given when you send it.
7. Buying Console Pro
The purchase is made through Apple's payment system (in-app purchase). Apple processes your payment and billing data, under its own privacy policy. In Chile, the United States and the rest of Latin America, Apple acts as HIFILAT's agent; in the European Union and the United Kingdom, an Apple company sells in its own name. HIFILAT does not receive, see or store your payment data; it only receives aggregate sales information from Apple that does not identify you.
The 7-day trial requires no account, no email and no card: it is governed by a date stored on your own Mac.
8. App Store declaration
In the App Store Connect privacy questionnaire we declare "Data Not Collected", and this policy is consistent with that declaration: the app transmits no data off your Mac. The problem report does not change this, because the app does not send it: you decide to send it, by whatever means you choose, outside the application.
9. Applicable law
This policy is aligned with:
- Law No. 19.628 on the Protection of Private Life (Chile) and Law No. 21.719 on the Protection of Personal Data (Chile, in force from 1 December 2026), including its duty to inform.
- GDPR — Regulation (EU) 2016/679.
- CCPA — California Consumer Privacy Act, where applicable.
Legal basis: since Console collects nothing, the only possible processing on our side is the problem report you send us, based on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time by writing to us.
Automated decisions: HIFILAT does not make automated decisions or build profiles.
10. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, object, to portability and to withdraw your consent. Since the app collects nothing, in practice these apply only to a report you have sent us or an email you have written to us.
Channel to exercise them: contacto@hifilat.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
Complaint to the authority: in Chile you may complain to the Personal Data Protection Agency (Agencia de Protección de Datos Personales, created by Law No. 21.719).
11. International transfers
HIFILAT does not transfer your data, because it does not receive it. If you write to us or send us a report, your email is handled by our email provider, whose servers are outside Chile; that transfer is based on your consent and on the contractual safeguards agreed with the provider. The purchase is handled by Apple, under its own policy.
12. Minors
Console is not directed at minors and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.
13. Security
Audio is never persisted, so there is no file that could leak. Preferences are stored using standard macOS mechanisms, protected by your Mac user account. The app is distributed signed and notarized by Apple.
14. Website
The hifilat.com website has its own Privacy Policy, covering the contact form and the newsletter. This policy covers only the Console application.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update it. We will publish the current version with its version number and date. If a change is material — for example, if Console were to add a new connection — we will reflect it here before or at the same time as the app version that introduces it.
